Right now, the United States’ primary care system is broken: There simply aren’t enough primary care doctors to meet demand.
Only a small percentage of medical students choose the primary care path, and the resulting lack of doctors has a real impact on the depth of care patients receive. Doctors are overextended and burned out, and too many patients are left without the care they really need.
Many of those patients are beginning to wonder, “Is there a concierge doctor near me?”
At Personal Health MD, we offer an individualized, relationship-based approach to care. Our doctors have more time to spend with each patient, rather than cramming visits into a quick 15-minute slot. Our care is more thoughtful, more thorough, and much more personal.
In our concierge practice, we see a variety of scenarios, including these.
The Medically Complex Patient
Patients with complicated medical needs often feel overwhelmed. It’s not unusual to see multiple doctors or specialists and still come away without clear answers.
What often makes the biggest difference is having someone in your corner: a team captain with the time and experience to step back, see the full picture, coordinate with the right specialists, and bring everything together into a thoughtful, personalized plan.
That’s where your concierge physician plays a powerful role: the steady, informed quarterback who makes sense of it all and keeps your care moving in the right direction.
The Healthy Patient Who Wants to Optimize Wellness
We also see patients who feel well but want to take their health a step further. They’re active, engaged, and curious, often exploring topics like cutting-edge metabolic and genetic testing, supplements to support health, personalized fitness, sleep hygiene, and anything that might help them function even better.
These patients are bombarded daily with marketing pitches for products that promise a longer lifespan with certain supplements. We love addressing this and helping our patients differentiate the hype from the evidence and science behind certain supplements.
Health span is unique to each person: Every individual eventually bumps against their own genetic ceiling of aging factors. What our “wellness optimizers” really want is a physician who can help them be on the cutting medical edge of the health span ceiling, someone who deeply understands the medical side but can also think broadly and holistically about their unique health span factors and help them make smart choices.
How Your Concierge Doctor Works With You
At Personal Health MD, we believe great care doesn’t need to be dressed up. It just needs to be attentive, comprehensive, and centered on you. We blend the best of traditional research- and evidence-backed medicine with a whole-person personalized approach that considers lifestyle, nutrition, and well-being and may also include elements of functional or integrative medicine, as well as time-tested practices like yoga, meditation, massage, and acupuncture.
That’s what “Personal Health” means to us and what our established patients continue to appreciate over our 15 years in concierge medicine, helping them stay well for the long run.
The Benefits of Concierge Care
Concierge care is sometimes framed as only for the wealthy, as a replacement for insurance, or as mainly featuring house calls.
When we discuss the concierge approach with a new patient, we emphasize that their membership in our practice is not a transaction, like buying a car. Rather, you’re obtaining a continuous relationship with highly knowledgeable physicians with decades of experience who are always accessible to you. It’s the way medicine should be.
At Personal Health MD, we offer benefits not typically available through most Boston-area primary care practices or hospital-based programs.
Round-the-Clock Access to a Physician
We schedule your office visits to suit your particular needs and can accommodate patients who need to see us more frequently.
Every contact with you is important, even after hours, and what’s urgent to you is urgent to us. We welcome your urgent medical-need texts or calls in the evenings and on weekends.
If you have a sudden new symptom or illness, we can take action to get you immediate care, if needed. With over 20 years of triage experience, our doctors ask the right questions to determine whether you should head to the ER or come to our office.
A Passionate, Dedicated Team
We were one of the first concierge offices in Boston, opened in 2011, with a team that’s patient-centered rather than practice-centered. From our physicians to our medical assistants and front desk associates, we’re all rowing the boat in the same direction.
What keeps our patients with us for years is the unique combination of our cutting-edge medicine care model with the feeling you’re getting the same attention you’d get from a traditional “country doctor.”
A Pioneering Mindset
Thanks to my studies at the Harvard School of Public Health and my work as founder of Personal Health MD, I have been able to scientifically vet and become an early adopter of key emerging tests that subsequently are becoming mainstream medical approaches. This includes being the first primary care practice in Boston to use the Grail
Galleri multi-cancer detection blood test and the early heart disease detection platform using Cleerly AI-directed, non-invasive cardiac CT imaging of the coronary arteries to detect and stabilize cholesterol plaque before a heart attack appears.

Smart, Accurate Referrals
Personal Health MD can advocate on your behalf for admittance to Massachusetts General, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Newton-Wellesley Hospital, and the Beth Israel Lahey hospital system.
We also have a highly curated list of specialists, well-informed by years of patient feedback. Our team has a strong connection with this specialist network and works with them to review patient charts, interpret results, and coordinate care.
Your Concierge Doctor’s Relationship With You
If Personal Health MD sounds like a good fit for your health needs, reach out today for a complimentary meet-and-greet.
First Step: Email or call our team. You’ll speak with Mira, who can help answer logistical questions you may have.
Second Step: Schedule a 40–60-minute bi-directional meet-and-greet with one of our physicians, who will listen to your current medical interests, concerns, and future health goals, as well as relay their medical interest areas and practice style to see if there is a mutual fit.
Once you become a Member, our relationship will begin in earnest. We’ll thoroughly review your medical records in preparation for your first comprehensive medical review and health planning office visit that informs initial lab test ordering. During the second visit, we’ll review test results and conduct a complete physical.
Based on these insights, we conduct deeper research as needed and create a detailed health profile and summary that includes action steps for both you and our team, as well as a schedule of follow-up visits tailored to your health and lifestyle goals.
