Unparalleled Expertise
Dr. Richard Donahue founded Personal Health MD in 2011 to combine academic medical excellence with safe holistic functional medicine care.
“It’s vital to take the time to understand each patient in-depth — as a combination of their biochemistry, epigenetics, goals, and relationships. Only then can we best combine medical science with the art of healing to optimize health and treat illness.”
Working with Harvard specialists to provide the most seamless healthcare possible Dr. Donahue is affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital as an Associate Physician, now Mass General Brigham, and with Beth Israel Hospital.
Dr. Donahue has an MD from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and is board certified in Family Medicine from the Maine-Dartmouth Residency Program. As Medical Director at the Vinalhaven Island Medical Center in Maine for 10 years he developed the fastest pre-hospital advanced cardiac care for heart attacks in New England, and cared for adults, children, and the elderly.
Moving to Boston he completed his MPH at Harvard School of Public Health in Health Policy where he also served as a visiting scientist. For 6 years he worked clinically at Harvard University Health Services teaching Harvard medical students as a Clinical Instructor in Medicine. He is a member of Massachusetts Medical Society.
Dr. Jay Luthar combines the best of Harvard-based training in Internal Medicine to treat chronic and acute illnesses, with a Mind-Body and Integrative Medicine approach to promote healing. He is appreciated by his patients for his deep listening skills and love of medicine. Dr Luthar likes getting to know each patient’s story as it fits into their health and well-being. His approach fosters the healing relationship between physician and patient. As a board-certified Diplomate of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, he adds nutrition and lifestyle medicine to his care.
Prior to joining Personal Health MD, Dr. Luthar was a primary care physician at MGH, and a consultant physician at the Benson Henry Institute of Mind-Body Medicine. He completed residency at Harvard Medical School’s Cambridge Health Alliance Internal Medicine Program, and went to medical school at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He maintains an academic appointment as instructor of medicine at Harvard Medical School through his numerous endeavors in teaching.
Dr. Luthar was selected as Harvard Medical School’s first Physician Fellow for the Osher Collaborative Integrative Health Faculty Fellowship, and is passionate about expanding his repertoire of holistic modalities to help patients with their health and wellness.
Dr. Luthar cares for adults of all decades and life stages, and adolescents age 16 and above.
